Attack Styles By clicking on the crossed sword icon (shown in the below picture), you'll be able to see which attack style you're currently using, and you'll be able to switch between the different styles. When you select an attack type, you'll gain experience in that combat skill when you cause damage to an enemy. You will always earn experience in hitpoints. You can earn experience in either attack, defense, strength, or all 3, depending on the style you use: Accurate - hits more often; gives 4 exp to Attack per damage point. Aggressive - stronger but slightly slower; gives 4 exp to Strength per damage point. Defensive - increases the chance to block; gives 4 exp to Defense per damage point. Controlled - a combination of all; gives 1.33 exp to Attack, Defense and Strength per damage point.
The Basics Cooking can be a fun and interesting skill in RuneScape, since you can often cook several different types of food at the same level. There's a variety of things you can do with this skill, but more importantly, it's an essential skill to survival in the game. There are 2 main kinds of food in the game. Foods that require ingredients to be mixed together such as bread, pizzas and pies tend to take more time to make. Fish on the other hand, only need to be fished for and then cooked over a stove or fire.
Your Defense Class can be viewed by clicking on the body icon, which is to the right of the backpack icon. The different classes are Stab, Slash, Crush, Magic and Ranged. To the right is an example of what you may see once you click on it. The more you have in a Defense class, the better your defense against that type of attack is. The better the armor, the more Defense you will have. Different armors give different bonuses. Stab - This protects you from stabbing attacks, such as daggers, spears. Slash - This protects you from slashing attacks such as claws and swords. Crush - This protects you from mauling attacks, such as maces and punches. Magic - Protects you from Magical attacks and increases chances of magic missing on you, or Dragon Breath. Range - Protects from ranged attacks, such as arrows and darts. Prayer - This determines how slowly your prayer drains.
Firemaking Essentials Of course, firemaking is a straightforward and easy skill to work on, but you will most likely need some practice when you first start out. There are a few essential items that you should also obtain before you begin. Items You Need Hatchet - Any kind will do alright, but the better the axe, the easier it will be to obtain wood. Can be bought at Bob's Axes in Lumbridge. Tinderbox - This is what lights the fire, and can be bought in any General Store. Logs - The 'food' for the fire. With a hatchet in your inventory, click on a tree to chop it.
Getting Started In order to start fishing, you're going to need to buy something to catch the fish with, and if needed, some sort of lure. The fishing shop in Port Sarim has a multitude of fishing gear, and they'll even buy the assorted fish that you catch. There's also a store in Catherby that sells Members' gear such as Big Nets. Once you've gotten everything together, find a sparkling fishing spot in the water and click on it. You may need to right-click to get the correct option. Your character will continue fishing until your backpack is full, or you click somewhere around you.
The Basics Fletching can often times be an interesting skill to work on in RuneScape, since you can make all sorts of different things with it. The skill can also be fun, as you're not standing in the same place all the time. Instead, you can move around working on the skill, and usually you will be gaining experience toward other skills as well. A Knife will come in handy for cutting logs into the kind of item that you want to make, and you can find one behind Bob's Axe store in Lumbridge, upstairs in the Varrock General Store, or in the house just south of the Seer's Village Pub. Once you have a Knife, you just need to use it with some logs to decide what item and how many of them you want to make. By right-clicking on the item in the menu, you can choose to either make 1, 5, 10 or 'X' of them.
The Basics Casting spells can be quite simple, even to a new Magician, but there are still several things that you need to know before you begin.Runes RuneStones, or Runes for short, are imbued with magical powers from the land, and they were created many ages ago by the ancestors of RuneScape. When you hold enough of a specific combination of Runes, you can cast a magical spell. Runes can be found throughout RuneScape, lying on the ground, looted from enemies, and crafted using your RuneCrafting skill.
To begin mining, you should first obtain a basic pickaxe which can be picked up in asmall house in the Barbarian Village. Once you have one, it's time to set out and find a place to mine. There are several mining spots around the city of Varrock, and the Scorpion Pit mine near the desert town of Al Kharid that should have plenty of ores to start mining.

The Basics When you pray to the Gods of RuneScape, they will help you by making you instantly stronger, or un-affected by a foes' attack, depending on the prayer that you use. To use more prayers and to make them last longer, you should bury bones which are dropped by many monsters throughout RuneScape. You can find a graphical prayer list by clicking on the silver-colored symbol to the right of the screen. It will tell you which prayers you are using, the ones that you can use, and any ones that you can't use yet. To activate a prayer just click on the one you wish to use, and to de-activate it just click on it again.
The Basics Rangers can be quite powerful as they become stronger and more experienced at the art of Ranging, but you need to know several things before starting out. Basic Equipment The weapon of choice for many Rangers is the Bow, which uses arrows to hit your enemy. There are 2 kinds of bows: Shortbows and Longbows. Shortbows are known to fire arrows more quickly than Longbows, but they're mainly used for close combat. You can also use a Crossbow and bolts, but generally they are less effective as you become a more experienced Ranger, since they only add 6 to Ranged Attack. The basic Ranging equipment can be bought from Lowe's Archery Store in Varrock, located just northeast of the General Store, and also from a new Arrow Merchant in Rimmington.
The Basics Runecrafting is an interesting and fun skill to practice in RuneScape, as there are many different kinds of Runes to make, and several parts to making them using this skill. Often times, you will not be standing in the same spot for a long time, so the skill moves along quickly and you can get a great deal of Runes crafted in a short time. Before you can start crafting your own Runes, you need to mine some Rune Essence from the Essence Mine. Of course, not just anyone can find this mine, and only several characters in RuneScape can teleport you to it: Aubury - Located in the Varrock Magic Shop. Wizard Sedridor - Located in the Basement of the Wizard Tower.
in runescape u can do quests these r sometimes hard or easy u have members quests and free play quests 4 each quest u get some quest points here is a link to help u out with the quests!!!
The Basics There are two main parts to smithing in RuneScape: making the metal bars, and smithing them into useful items. Before you can start smithing your weapons and armor, you should first either mine the ores you need, or buy them from other players. Buying the ores or bars from other players may be faster than mining them, but it can be quite expensive. In order to make a metal bar, you need to have the correct amount of ores, and many of the metals require another type of ore to make a bar. For a complete list, you can refer to the Smelting Chart. Each item you make will need a different number of bars to smith it, and that info can be found in the Smithing Chart for the specific metal.
Basics of Woodcutting Cutting trees is a simple task, but some trees fall easier than others. Any hatchet will work, but remember that the better the axe, the easier it will be to get wood. Now just click on the tree to chop it down. If you chop a regular tree you will get 1 stack of logs, while others will give several stacks. If you keep missing the tree and can't chop it down, just keep trying and eventually you will cut it down. The higher your level, the easier it will be to get logs.
